Happy Spring from Morro Bay's Favorite Chiropractors!

(No, for real. Did you know we won Best of the Central Coast 2026 for best chiropractor?

We really are your favorite!!! Thank you for voting for us!)

Spring is officially here, which means the fog is doing that thing where it can't decide if it's leaving or not, the hills are still green (enjoy it while it lasts), and we've been busy little bees over here making some changes. Good changes. The kind that make your experience better and our staff slightly less frazzled.

Read on for updates, specials, some terrible spring jokes, and the moment you've ALL been waiting for. (You'll know it when you see it.)

Updates

New Phone System (Don't Panic)

We recently switched to a VoIP phone system, which is a fancy way of saying our phones now run over the internet instead of a traditional line. For you, this means essentially nothing has changed. You still call the same number. You still reach a real, live human who works right here on the central coast.

The only thing you might notice? When you call, instead of a standard ringing sound, you'll hear music. That's it. Same great service, slightly better soundtrack.

A Bittersweet Transition on Phones

Some of you may have heard that Dr. Silveira's sister was going to be joining us at the β€œvirtual” front desk. We were thrilled about it, honestly. Family + Mesa Natural Health? Dream team material.

But life had other plans, and she received a job offer that was simply too good to pass up. We are genuinely SO happy for her.

The silver lining? The incredibly competent Heather, our beloved insurance coordinator, is stepping in to handle phones. If you've ever called and gotten tangled up in an insurance question, you already know how good she is. Your phone calls are in very capable hands.

How We're Handling Check-In and Check-Out (And How You Can Help)

Here's the thing about running a small healthcare practice: every minute spent at the front desk is a minute not spent with you in the treatment room. We've been thinking a lot about how to create the smoothest, most efficient experience possible, and we've landed on a system we're genuinely excited about.

Going forward, we're streamlining our check-in and check-out process so that appointments run like clockwork, Jessica can focus on what she does best (being with you during your visit, not sprinting back and forth to the front desk), and you can walk out the door feeling great without standing around waiting.

Here's how you can be part of making this work:

β€’       Keep a card on file with us. This is the single biggest thing you can do to make checkout effortless. No fumbling for your wallet, no waiting. You get adjusted, you walk out the door. Done.

β€’       Book ahead. If you're a regular, try to schedule your upcoming appointments either on the app or via phone, and schedule a bunch at the same time. This saves EVERYONE time AND guarantees you get the times you want. We have a lot of patients who are booked out for the rest of the year.

β€’       Download the Jane for Clients app. This one is a game-changer. You can view your upcoming appointments, request changes, and manage your schedule right from your phone, without needing to log in every single time or hunt for a link in your email. If you need help with this, our resident IT guy (Not-Dr. Davide Silveira) will be happy to help. Just call the office and we’ll get you hooked up with him.

β€’       Call us to schedule. Our phones are still answered during business hours by a real human who is happy to help.

The goal is simple: you come in, you get the care you need, and you leave feeling better. No waiting, no friction, no fuss. We appreciate your patience as we get this dialed in, and as always, if something isn't working for you, just tell us. We actually listen around here.

Quick Reminder: If it's been a year or more since we've seen you, the state board requires us to perform a new exam before we can continue care. That means a longer appointment, a bit more cost, and sometimes a harder time finding availability. If you've been putting off coming back in, now is a great time to call and get scheduled before that year mark hits. Future you will be grateful.

NEW AT MESA: THE INSiGHT CLA SCANNER

We are so excited about this one, you guys.

We recently brought in the INSiGHT CLA Scanner, and we've been using it with new patients already. Here's what it does in plain English: it gives us an objective, data-driven picture of how your nervous system is actually functioning, not just how you're feeling on a given day.

Most of what we do as chiropractors has traditionally been assessed through conversation and physical examination. Both of those things are still incredibly valuable. But the INSiGHT scanner adds a layer of precision that we've never had before. It measures three things:

neuroPULSE (HRV - Heart Rate Variability)

Heart Rate Variability sounds complicated, but here's the simple version: your heart doesn't beat in a perfectly even rhythm, and that's actually a GOOD thing. The variation between beats tells us how well your nervous system is adapting to stress, both the daily kind (a bad night's sleep, a stressful phone call) and the bigger kind (illness, injury, major life changes).

Think of it as measuring your body's resilience. A higher HRV generally means your nervous system has more "reserve" to handle whatever life throws at it. A lower HRV can be a sign that your system is running on empty, even when you don't feel stressed.

This is information your primary care doctor almost certainly has never checked.

neuroCORE (Surface EMG)

Surface electromyography measures the electrical activity in your muscles, specifically the ones that run along your spine. These muscles are working constantly to hold you upright and protect your nervous system.

When joints aren't moving the way they should (hello, the fixations we're always talking about), the muscles around them compensate. They work overtime. They get exhausted. And that exhaustion shows up in your posture, your fatigue, and eventually your pain.

The sEMG scan shows us exactly where that compensation is happening, which helps us understand not just where you hurt, but WHY, and what we need to correct to actually fix it.

neuroTHERMAL (Thermal Scan)

Your spine has nerves running along both sides of it that regulate temperature in different regions of your body. When these nerves are under stress or being interfered with, temperature regulation in those areas becomes uneven.

The thermal scan detects those imbalances. It's a bit like an infrared map of your nervous system, showing us patterns that point to areas where communication between your brain and body isn't flowing the way it should.

Put all three together and you get a comprehensive snapshot of how your nervous system is actually performing. For new patients, this scan is now part of the exam process.

For our established patients: we'll be rolling out a special offer soon so YOU can experience this scan and start tracking your nervous system health over time. More on that soon. Stay tuned.

Monthly Specials

Because your health shouldn't cost a fortune. 15% off all specials listed below during the featured month.

April: Spring Cleaning for Your Gut

Just like you're probably eyeing the closet you've been avoiding since January, spring is the perfect time to clear out what's not serving you, starting from the inside. This month we're featuring:

β€’       ColonRx by Designs for Health: A targeted blend of herbs and nutrients designed to support healthy bowel function and help move things through (yes, we said it) while soothing the lining of the gut. Think of it as a gentle reset, not a dramatic flush.

β€’       OrthoBiotic: Probiotics replenish the beneficial bacteria that your gut depends on for digestion, immune function, and even mood regulation. We carefully selected this formula to complement ColonRx and support long-term gut health, not just a short-term fix.

May: Mental Health Awareness Month

The nervous system runs the body via the brain. Full stop. And this month we're putting our focus there with supplements that support mood, brain function, and nervous system health:

β€’       Fish Oil (Omega-3) by Innate Choice: One of the most well-researched supplements for brain health. Omega-3 fatty acids support the structure of brain cells, help regulate mood, and reduce inflammation that can affect cognitive function.

β€’       Vitamin B Complex by Metagenics: B vitamins are essential for energy production and neurological function. Deficiencies are surprisingly common and can show up as fatigue, brain fog, irritability, or low mood. A quality B complex covers a lot of ground.

β€’       CBD Tincture by Elixinol: CBD supports the endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating stress responses, sleep, and pain. A good option if you've been curious but haven't known where to start.

June: Headache & Migraine Awareness Month

Headaches are one of the things we treat that patients are often surprised by. "I didn't know chiropractors could help with that." We hear it constantly. They can. Especially when the root cause is tension, joint fixation in the cervical spine, or nerve interference. This month:

β€’       MyoCalm by Metagenics: Formulated to relax muscle tension and calm the nervous system. Magnesium-based and designed for people who carry their stress in their neck and shoulders (so... most people).

β€’       Elixinol Products (Tincture or Sports Gel): Targeted CBD support for tension and inflammation, especially useful as a complementary approach to headache management.

β€’       LASER PACK SPECIAL: 6 sessions for $50 (regularly $75). The laser packs have been one of our most popular offerings since we introduced them in November. We've sold close to 80 packages, with patients coming back again and again to treat different conditions and sending their friends and family in to do the same. The headache protocol has been particularly remarkable. If you've been waiting to try it, June is your month. And no, you do not have to be a patient of the office to take advantage of this special.

Heather’s Spring Recipe: Beef Birria

  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into large chunks

  • 11 guajillo chilies

  • 5 chilies de arbol

  • 3 ancho chilies

  • 2 pasilla chiles

  • 1 white onion, quartered

  • 2 roma tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 whole cloves

  • 5 cloves of garlic, peeled and smashed

  • 3 cups beef stock

  • 1 1/2 tsp marjoram

  • 1 Tbsp cumin

  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

  • 2 tsp salt

Seed and stem all of the peppers, then wash the peppers well. Add to a stock pot with 6 cups of water and set to boil. When the water starts boiling, add the onion and tomatoes and boil for 10 minutes. Add garlic and boil for a final 5 minutes.

Drain water off, remove cinnamon stick, and add to a blender or food processor. Process carefully as hot foods in a blender create steam and pressure, creating a risk of burns or injury. Blend until very smooth. Strain puree through a fine mesh strainer, pressing with the back of a spoon to get all of the sauce separated.

In a large dutch oven or other heavy-bottomed pot, sear meat on all sides until desired browning is achieved. Remove meat to a bowl. Deglaze pan with a little water and pour into the bowl of beef.

Heat some oil in the same pot until very hot. Pour sauce into the oil, pouring away from you so as to reduce splatter. Add cumin, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping the bottom if it starts to stick. Add beef and up to 3 cups of beef stock, enough to cover the meat, and bring to a low boil. Once boiling, reduce to a bare simmer and cover tightly with a lid.

Simmer meat on the stovetop for 3.5-4 hours, stirring occasionally. Start checking for doneness around 2.5-3 hours if you cut the meat into smaller pieces to start. Remove meat when tender and shred in a bowl. Skim oil from consomΓ© and set aside for frying later. Strain consomΓ© and store in an airtight container, serving small bowls with however you prepare your final dish. The meat makes great tacos, ramen, breakfast burritos, etc. I keep finding uses for the consomΓ© to add flavor to other dishes!

*my husband and I take all of the usual toppings for quesobirria tacos (cilantro, mozzarella cheese, white onions) and roll them with the meat in egg roll wrappers! Brush with the skimmed oil and either lightly fry on all sides or put into an air fryer until desired crunchiness is achieved. Dip in warmed consomΓ© and ENJOY!

As always, thank you for trusting us with your health.

We don't take that lightly, and we have a lot of fun taking care of you.

Now go outside. The fog is lifting.

With love and good adjustments,

Dr. Silveira & the Mesa Natural Health Team

P.S. Just a reminder….it’s officially only 6 months until Halloween. Just sayin’.
